Controversy at PT Congress as Senator Leaves Amid Booing

The Labor Party apologized to the President of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, after he was invited and booed at the National Congress of the political institution. The senator expressed his disappointment with the situation, stating his commitment to unity despite distancing himself from the Labor Party. In later statements, Fernández Noroña lamented what happened, calling it profoundly unfair.

The PT issued a statement recognizing Fernández Noroña as a leftist, progressive man and a valuable asset for the Fourth Transformation. The national coordinator of the party, Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez, asserted that Noroña is and will continue to be a friend and comrade in cause, with open doors in the PT.

The situation went viral on social media when Fernández Noroña was received with boos at a petista party event in a hotel in the Historic Center of Mexico City. Attendees at the Congress were asking Noroña to join the party, which created a tense atmosphere. In response to the reaction of those present, the senator, who is already a member of Morena, chose to leave the place while trying to give his speech.
